Elementary (K–6): Building Strong Foundations
Elementary school is where lifelong learning begins. At GRCA, we create a nurturing environment where young students develop essential academic skills, discover the joy of learning, and grow in their faith. From Kindergarten through sixth grade, our teachers guide students through a carefully structured curriculum that builds confidence, curiosity, and character.
Our class sizes allow teachers to know each child's unique strengths and needs. We celebrate progress, encourage questions, and create a classroom community where every student feels valued and capable.

Kindergarten
Kindergarten is an exciting year of discovery and growth. Students transition into formal learning while maintaining the playfulness and wonder of early childhood. Our program builds essential readiness skills in a structured yet engaging environment.
Reading & Language Arts
Students master phonics through systematic instruction, learning letter sounds and blending skills that unlock reading. They build vocabulary, develop listening comprehension, and begin writing simple sentences. By the end of kindergarten, most students are reading independently.
Mathematics
Kindergarteners explore numbers through hands-on activities and visual aids. They learn to count, recognize numbers, understand basic addition and subtraction concepts, identify shapes, and recognize patterns. Math becomes a language they can use to understand the world around them.
Science & Social Studies
Students observe the natural world, conduct simple experiments, and learn about seasons, weather, animals, and plants. They explore community helpers, family structures, and basic geography. Learning is hands-on and designed to spark curiosity.
Spiritual Formation
Our students learn Bible stories, memorize verses, and discover what it means to love God and others. Daily chapel and classroom devotions help young children understand God's love and develop Christian character.
1st–6th Grade
As students progress through elementary school, they move from learning to read to reading to learn. Academic content deepens, critical thinking develops, and students gain independence and confidence. Each year builds on the previous one, creating a strong foundation for middle school and beyond.
Elementary classrooms are warm, structured, and engaging. Students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and try new things. They develop a love of learning that extends far beyond the classroom.

Language Arts
Students develop strong reading comprehension skills across fiction and nonfiction texts. In first and second grade, they master phonics and build reading fluency. By third grade, students read chapter books independently and begin writing multi-paragraph compositions.
Upper elementary students analyze literature, write persuasive essays and research reports, master grammar and mechanics, and develop vocabulary through reading and direct instruction. By sixth grade, students are confident readers and effective communicators.
Mathematics
Elementary math builds from concrete concepts to abstract thinking. First graders master addition and subtraction facts. Second and third graders tackle multiplication, division, and place value. Fourth through sixth graders work with fractions, decimals, percentages, geometry, and early algebra concepts.
Students learn problem-solving strategies, develop computational fluency, and understand how math applies to real-world situations. They move from manipulatives and visual models to mental math and abstract reasoning.
Science
Science curriculum introduces students to life science, earth science, and physical science concepts through observation, experimentation, and exploration. Students study plants and animals, the human body, weather and climate, rocks and minerals, matter and energy, and simple machines.
Upper elementary students engage in the scientific method, conducting experiments and recording observations. They learn to ask questions, make predictions, and draw conclusions based on evidence.
Social Studies
Students explore American history from early settlements through modern times, learning about key events, historical figures, and the founding principles of our nation. They study world geography, examining different cultures, countries, and continents. The social studies curriculum helps students understand their place in the world and their role as citizens.
Bible
Bible is a core focus at every grade level. Students memorize scripture, study biblical characters and narratives, learn doctrine appropriate to their age, and apply biblical principles to daily life. Our goal is not just biblical knowledge but heart transformation and character development.
Beyond Academics
Elementary students participate in daily chapel, gathering as a school community for worship, Bible teaching, and prayer. They explore creativity through art and music, develop physical skills and teamwork through PE, and build social-emotional skills through structured activities and free play.
Character development is woven throughout the day. Students learn respect, responsibility, kindness, perseverance, and integrity. Teachers model Christian character and guide students in resolving conflicts, building friendships, and serving others.
